this was my sky at 6am this morning I have added more land below - I think it is better if you look to the bottom left of the sun you will see smoke - right now as I look out the window I am seeing very large flames - is there anyone out there from Bellingham who knows? I would take a picture, but my zoom would only show an orange dot :)

Nice one Christa.... wont call you MONKEY anymore lol, since you prefer the first name "ART" :) Hey buddy i like this one since i seldom get to see sunrises as i hardly wake up so early LOL... So, its good to see it thru your lens hehehe... Btw, there is a little flare in this picture pal, you should consider using the lens hood when shotting in light or at it. :-)

@Rahul: ok - am I blind - I cannot see any flare - can you tell me where you see this?
Waw, this one is nice too, only little bit dark.. maybe you can try to use bigger aperture or slower shutter speed and see the different, but it is your choice:)
12 Apr 2007 1:59am
@ajoeh: I shot it with a bunch of different shutter speeds and I liked this one the best - when it went lighter the colour was gone thanks for visiting again :)
Just above the mountains, to the left and below the sun, i saw two orange dots... Probably i am getting old and seeing things.... :)
My apologies, if its part of sky and not lens flare ART. :)

that's what I thought you saw - and as I said above - it's smoke!!! - the fire is still burning now!
12 Apr 2007 2:21am
Ohhh, is it kinda jungle fire or something ? We have it a lot in indonesia here, where it kinda clouds up whole malaysia when jungles burn there. Guess, i got it wrong for flare buddy, my apology :-)
Its a damn good sunrise which i would wish to see more hehehe... if only i can wake up early after working late nights. Sigh!!

Great sky shot! That must be some fire to show up like that! I like this with the landscape at the bottom - quite a feature really! Do it again! do it again!

6am! wow, thanks for waking up so early and sharing this with us! This is a beatiful capture. You have great view :) Is the fire still burning?
12 Apr 2007 8:28am
@alla: well - I did go back to bed for a while :) I can't tell if the fire is still burning because it is very cloudy over there today thanks for your visit and comments
Lovely shot. The morning haze adds drama to the atmosphere of the picture. By 6am I have already been at work for two hours. I occasionally get a glimpse of the sunrise when I open the dock doors. I have never met a sunrise I didn't like. Such beauty, such promise for a new day.
12 Apr 2007 8:49am
@Dornbrau: thank you Dornbrau - I appreciate you getting up so early - although I couldn't do it - I am not a morning person really - well to talk to anyway - I can take pictures though :)
Yes! Great sky and wonderful horizon!! Love the detail of the trees in the foreground in silouette and the snaking of the strait around the islands. The fire is weird isn't it?? At first I thought it looked like a flare stack (being Albertan and all) but then saw it wasn't. You'll have to let us know what it is if you find out!! Oh yeah, MORNING SKY. ;-)

@amy: thank you amy and you are right with the anagram - I cannot see anything today as it was cloudy over there - so I don't know what happened still :(
