this is a picture of me taken in hawaii - behind me is the bonzai pipeline - where for some stupid reason I decided to swim - I love the water and I love swimming, but shortly after taking this picture I almost drown - I still love the water and I still love to swim :)
I have played with the photo in Painter - where I was basically manipulating the colour like you would on an SX70 photo

Good color tone, little bit soft I think..

@ajoeh: hi ajoeh, this was a slide that was scanned and then the colours were pushed around digitally in a program called painter - I tried to reproduce the effect of smushing around emulsion on an SX70 image - that is why it is soft :)
That little blur(slow shutter speed) really works here, but I would have cropped off the sky to give more sense of vastness to the ocean waters.

@Shuva: thanks for your comments Shuva :)
I agree with Shuva. The overall blur is very nice about this photo.

Good use of value here!

@Craiger: Cheers Craiger!
You were brave facing that monster wave. Looks pretty scary to me. Like your processing in Painter, makes it look like a C41 processed print
@Richard_Irwin: thanks for your continuing visits and comments Richard ;)
Great pp! Love the hue!

@Myst: thank you ;)
Uh that's one h%$# of a wave, watch out!!! I know what you mean about swimming and the water...LOVE IT!!! Love the shot! Looks like you are having a blast! The pp work is perfect! Rip Tide?!

@Jen: Thanks so much Jen and yes Rip Tide is correct
I like the softness of this photo. Where you the only one in the water?!

@alla: thank you alla - yes my boyfriend (at the time) and I were the only ones in the water - there was a lifeguard watching me drown with his binoculars! - luckily, it was my boyfriend who saved me :)
Really nice processing, the result is great, Nice shot!

@Alfredo J. Martiz J.: thank you Alfredo
Who took the picture A.M? Cool shot - really nice processing and has a great feel; you look very happy and the angle and motion blur have a sense of spontaneous, summer-holiday snap about them. Shame about nearly drowning... you would not get me in that water for love nor money...

@Daroru: my boyfriend at the time took the picture - thanks for your comments
Very interesting photo.

LOOOOOVVE what you've done with the waves! It's like Aphrodite rising from the foam (ok, I'm reading Helen of Troy right now, can you tell?) In all seriousness, I do really love what you've done. Most excellent! And by the way... ARE YOU MAD? Glad you didn't drown! Oh yeah... rip tide?

@amy: thanks so much amy - your comments are always much appreciated - even though my head keeps getting bigger :) I guess I was mad - I have never been afraid of the water - I was also younger when that picture was taken and I think now I have more respect for the sea and rip tide is correct!
Great processing, it looks as though youre going to be taken out with the current.. Nice one

@KM Faisal: thanks KM
If I were this lady,I could not smile like her. Because I can not swim!!
10 Apr 2007 3:39pm
@miu*: ha ha - I'm sorry you cannot swim though - it's a lot of fun :)
Go there and swim in the summer, no waves then. Pipeline can be a dangerous place.
